Avalanche Activity

Individual avalanche prone locations for dry avalanches are to be found in particular in places that are protected from the wind at intermediate and high altitudes.

Up to 20 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, fell yesterday above approximately 1800 m. The sometimes moderate wind has transported the new snow. The wind slabs can be released in isolated cases in particular on steep shady slopes above approximately 2100 m. The avalanche prone locations are sometimes covered with new snow and are barely recognisable, even to the trained eye. Be careful, many rocks hidden.

Snowpack Structure

Up to 2300 m rain fell on Monday. Above approximately 1000 m snow fell yesterday. In some places new snow and wind slabs are lying on a hard crust. The wind slabs are to be found in particular in gullies and bowls and in the high Alpine regions.

Tendency

Above approximately 800 m snow will fall from the afternoon. As a consequence of the snowfall the avalanche prone locations will become more prevalent from the early morning.
