In sintesi

Avalanches large enough to bury or injure a person will continue to be unlikely for Sunday. Small wet loose avalanches on steep sunny slopes are still possible, though, due to the warm weather we are receiving. If you choose to travel on this terrain, be mindful of terrain traps such as cliffs and trees, that would make a small slide more consequential.

    On Saturday in the Monument I observed signs of recent wet loose activity on steep solar slopes. Increased clouds for Sunday and moderate winds could prevent this problem from gaining much momentum, but it is worth paying attention to the condition of surface snow before choosing to travel on any sunny, steep, and consequential terrain. If you notice active roller balls, or have boot penetration past your ankles, these are good signs to back off and seek lower angle terrain or less solar aspects.

Avalanche Discussion

Despite the warm temperatures of the last few days, shaded and sheltered slopes were still holding dry, soft snow on Saturday. I observed these slopes to have the most consistent, good snow and a less pronounced crust lying underneath Wednesday's 5" of new snowfall.
