The wind slabs are to be assessed with care and prudence. Gullies and bowls are especially dangerous. Weak layers in the old snowpack can be released even by individual winter sport participants in particular on steep shady slopes. Caution is to be exercised in areas with glide cracks.
The soft wind slabs can be released easily. or in isolated cases naturally, above approximately 1800 m. Below approximately 1900 m natural moist avalanches are possible. Gullies and bowls where weaknesses exist in the old snowpack are especially dangerous.
Snowpack Structure
