While generally safe avalanche conditions are expected on Monday,  be prepared for difficult travel conditions where you find steep icy slopes or recently exposed ground hazards like rocks or trees. Continue to limit your time below slopes with sagging cornices or large glide cracks until we have an extended period of cooler weather. 

No new natural or human triggered avalanches have been reported over the last few days.  A stout and supportable surface crust can be found on most aspects.  On sunnier slopes, the surface crust has been softening during the afternoon hours.  That's not likely on Monday as a weak front moves into the area with increasing clouds and light rain or snow. If you do find areas of wet and punchy snow, shift to lower angle or firmer slopes to avoid triggering a loose wet avalanche. 

Below the surface, alternating layers of firm crusts, weak wet snow, and strong rounded grains exist. At the moment we aren’t tracking any layers of concern in the upper snowpack.  

2021-22 Forecast Schedule: Avalanche danger ratings will be issued for the Olympics every Friday through Sunday and during mid-week holidays. During the week when the Hurricane Ridge road is closed, forecast information will be updated daily to include expected conditions and relevant travel advice under the No Rating label.
