Forecast Snow Stability: After a brief thaw at all levels overnight unstable windslab will form in wind sheltered areas through the day. Greatest accumulations will be in sheltered gullies and on slopes with a mainly North through East to South-Easterly aspect above 850 metres. Other aspects may be affected by cross loading. Fragile cornices will form in similar locations. The old snowpack will generally remain stable, it will be firm and icy in places. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Forecast Weather Influences: Rain and summit snow overnight and strengthening winds. The freezing level will rise to 1400-1600m for a short time. Strong southerly winds with summit gales will veer Westerly. As this clears in the early hours of Friday snow showers will feed in from the West and freezing level falls to 600m by midday, and 300m or so by evening. A degree of thaw through Thursday evening as the rain pushes through, before net snow accumulation building up again with the showers through Friday. Observed Weather Influences: Cold and clear conditions overnight gave a frost at all levels, Today has calm clear and cool in the shade. The freezing level is around 800 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack re-froze overnight and is generally firm and is icy in places. Stability is good throughout. Any remaining cornices may weaken with the effects of the sun.
