CM for 1/3/22. Snowpack generally well bonded and stable. Isolated, shallow windslab mainly on NE-E aspects above 900m. Low hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will be generally well bonded and stable. Isolated areas of shallow windslab will be present mainly on steep North-East and East aspects above 900 metres. Steep wind sheltered locations such as gullies, corrie rims and ridge flanks will be most affected. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Strong West-South-West winds in the evening will slowly ease to become light by the end of the afternoon. Snow showers initially then mainly dry. The freezing level will be around 600 metres overnight rising to 900 metres in the afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: Occasional showers falling as snow only on the higher summits. Moderate West-South-West winds. The freezing level was slowly dropping and was around 900 metres at midday. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is generally well bonded and stable. Isolated areas of generally shallow windslab were accumulating through the day mainly on North-East and East aspects above 900 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
