Forecast Snow Stability: The snow will refreeze, become firmer and will remain well bonded throughout. Any new snow will be inconsequential. Most aspects will hold snow above 1000 metres with snow restricted to sheltered features at lower levels. Exposed ridges will be bare. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Snowpack Structure
Forecast Weather Influences: The freezing level will be around 1000 metres at the start and end of this forecasted period but it will briefly drop to 600 metres around dawn. Very little new snowfall is expected. Winds will strengthen, mostly from the South becoming gale force by the afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: Both the cloud base and freezing level was around 900 metres, occasional light showers gave a mix of snow and rain. Winds were strong from the South. ObservedSnowStability: No significant new snow with the majority of older snow soft but stable and well bonded throughout. Coverage is best above 1000 metres with snow below this altitude limited to sheltered features. Elsewhere at this level the ground is mainly bare. The avalanche hazard is Low.
