Avalanche Activity

CM for 13/04/22 Minor wet surface snow instability possible on E to S aspects. Weak cornices. Low Hazard

Forecast Snow Stability: Good general stability. Pockets of older windslab will be wet and may show minor wet surface snow instability; most affected areas will be East to South aspects above 950 metres. Residual cornices will be weak and prone to collapse. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Wet overnight then dry. Mild throughout. Light to moderate North-West winds. Observed Weather Influences: Light overnight showers of sleety snow over summits, with rain at lower altitudes. Moderate South-East winds eased to light during the day. Cool summit temperatures, milder later. ObservedSnowStability: Minor accumulations of thin, moist new snow on North-West to North aspects above 1000 metres. All older windslab at lower altitudes is moist or wet but stable. The coarse-grained old snow patches are thawing slowly and remain well bonded. Weak, moist cornices above selected steep slopes. The avalanche hazard is Low.
