Avalanche Activity

Increase in danger of moist avalanches as a consequence of warming during the day.

Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found on extremely steep slopes. Avalanches can be released in the weakly bonded old snow in very isolated cases. This applies on shady slopes. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface. As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation small to medium-sized wet avalanches are possible below approximately 2900 m, especially on steep sunny slopes. Even a small snow slide can sweep snow sport participants along and give rise to falls.

Snowpack Structure

Less snow than usual is lying, especially on steep southeast, south and southwest facing slopes below approximately 2600 m. The snowpack will be generally subject to considerable local variations. Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise as the day progresses to increasing moistening of the snowpack, in particular on very steep sunny slopes. On steep sunny slopes several mostly small avalanches were observed.

Tendency

The avalanche danger will persist.
