Avalanche Activity

Forecast Snow Stability: Good stability on all windward aspects where there will be widespread hard or crusty conditions. New additional thin weak windslab will form on selected steep West to North aspects above 950m. New accumulations not expected to be extensive and will be generally easy to avoid. Cornices will overhang some of these locations. The avalanche hazard will be Low

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Some light snow showers during the early hours and the morning. Strong East later East South Easterly airflow. Cold throughout but temperatures easing a little later. Observed Weather Influences: A trace of overnight snowfall. Cold summit temperatures throughout. Strong South East winds. ObservedSnowStability: All windward slopes have been comprehensively scoured down to a crust or hard snow ice and stability in these places is very good. Sporadic drifting during the day gave rise to pockets of weak windslab development on a few steep, sheltered West to North aspects above 950m. Any new accumulations are thin. Some minor cornices noted high above steeper lee slopes. The avalanche hazard is Low
