Avalanche Activity

Forecast Snow Stability: Localised areas of windslab will continue to develop with a brief period of instability in the warming around dawn. Steep wind sheltered areas such as gullies and coire rims on North through East to South-East aspects above 800 metres most affected. Elsewhere there will be a shallow covering of soft stable snow. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Showers throughout the period will initially be snow above around 500 metres turning to rain at most levels for a brief period around dawn before turning back to snow at lower levels. Moderate South-South-Westerly winds overnight veering South-Westerly and increasing to strong during the day. Observed Weather Influences: Showers became more frequent in the afternoon and fell as snow above around 200 metres. Moderate South-Westerly winds. The freezing level was around 750 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Localised areas of moderately bonded windslab exist in some steep wind sheltered locations. North through East to South-East aspects above 800 metres are most affected. Elsewhere there is a thin covering of stable snow. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
