In sintesi

The General Avalanche Hazard at Mid and Upper elevations is HIGH. Fifteen inches of new snow driven by strong west-southwest winds have created slabs to three feet in depth. The slabs rest on a variety of aspects and could be easily triggered or run naturally entraining snow from the past several days which will increase the volume of deposition in any slide event. At Low elevations the hazard is CONSIDERABLE. TRAVEL IN AVALANCHE TERRAIN IS NOT RECOMMENDED.

Avalanche Discussion

Strong westerly winds are forecasted to continue with 3 to 5 inches of new snow in the mountains of Western Wyoming by early Monday. Cloud cover will become broken during the day with drier conditions. Overnight mountain temperatures will drop to below zero and daytime highs Monday will be in the single digits.High winds will continue to enlarge surface slabs in lee areas. Areas under ridge crests and steep areas that can act as fetches for slopes below are likely to help develop easily triggered slides to four feet or greater in depth. In the Togwotee Pass/Continental Divide area weak, faceted snow still persists at the base of the shallow snowpack. Stronger triggers like snowmobile groups could release these deep, hard slabs. The General Avalanche Hazard is forecasted to be CONSIDERABLE Monday across the region.
