The avalanche hazard will rise from LOW during the morning hours to MODERATE as rising temperatures and sunshine increase the hazard. Pockets of shallow surface slab and deeper dense slabs could be human triggered on steep avalanche prone slopes at the upper elevations. Wet slides will be a potential hazard on steep slopes after snow surfaces soften. Monitor conditions and avoid steep terrain during the warmest portion of the day.

    At the higher elevations pockets of soft surface slab up a foot in depth could be human triggered in steep, wind loaded avalanche starting zones. Some potential also remains for deep hard slabs, with depths to three feet, to be human triggered in isolated areas. Very large avalanches could be triggered by snow machines in extreme terrain like the east face of Lava Mountain. Warming temperatures will increase the sensitivity of these slabs to release by human triggers.

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Skies will be mostly clear. Temperatures will be inverted in the morning and will start out near 20 at the higher elevations and near 10 in the coldest valley locations. Daytime highs are forecast to rise into the mid-30s at the upper elevations and into 40s in the valleys. Light to moderate northwest winds will back towards the southwest and decrease during the day.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW in the morning and rise to MODERATE during the day. Some potential will develop for wet slides to occur in very steep terrain after significant warming occurs. In addition, pockets of shallow surface slab and, in isolated areas, the remote chance of triggering a deeper hard slab avalanche are potential hazards at the upper elevations.
