In sintesi

Up to 18 inches of new snow with nearly two inches of moisture fell during the past two days. This storm produced an upside-down snow density profile and was accompanied by strong west-southwest winds. The Wyoming Department of Transportation triggered a large avalanche on Teton Pass last night and in the Hoback Canyon yesterday morning. The ski patrols at local ski resorts triggered numerous dense slab avalanches with ski cuts and explosives on a variety of aspects at all elevations yesterday.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Moderate to heavy snowfall will continue across the area into the early evening hours before the snowfall begins to weaken overnight. Five to seven inches of additional snow accumulation is expected before daybreak. Slowly clearing skies are forecast for Tuesday with diminishing snowfall. Skies are expected to be partly cloudy by evening. Temperatures at 10,500 feet will remain in the 20s overnight and rise into the low 30s during the day. Winds will decrease to around 20 miles per hour overnight.The Avalanche Warning issued by the Bridger-Teton National Forest expired at 5 PM tonight. The general avalanche hazard on Tuesday is expected to be CONSIDERABLE. Surface slabs one to three feet in depth could be human triggered in steep terrain on a variety of aspects.
