On Thursday, I measured up to 3' of recent storm snow that has fallen since Saturday at around 7,000 ft elevation. That is a large amount of new snow available for transport. Recent and forecasted winds are strong enough to blow this new snow onto leeward slopes and create wind drifts large enough to bury, injure or kill a person. There were reports of small, touchy wind slab avalanches on Thursday at near treeline elevations. I would expect the size of these avalanches to only get larger as you move up in elevation. With Friday's clearing, it will be tempting to expand your terrain vertically and pursue higher elevations. This is where the presence of wind slab will be most likely, and higher consequence. Have heightened awareness for terrain features such as convex rollers or steep slopes below ridges where wind drifted snow is most likely to accumulate. Utilize your ski pole to poke around the snow surface as you travel through terrain and gain an understanding of the presence of a slab- strong snow over weaker snow. Small, no-consequence indicator slopes are a great way to better understand real-time existense of this problem.
