In sintesi

Avalanches are unlikely on Sunday. Most of the snow in the Central Cascades is firm and crusty, and cold temperatures will keep it that way. Practice good backcountry habits, like evaluating the snow, weather, and terrain, and riding one at a time on slopes that are steeper than 30 degrees.

Avalanche Discussion

Very little has changed with our weather and snowpack over the last two weeks. Most of the snow surface is firm, though there are still pockets of soft, cold snow in shaded and wind-protected areas. Remember that even on low danger days, pockets of unstable snow can be found in isolated or extreme terrain. Continue to use conservative backcountry travel techniques, like limiting your exposure to avalanche terrain and analyzing the snowpack and weather. Practicing your skills is a good way to get out and enjoy the mountains during lulls between good riding!
