Forecast Snow Stability: Initially, shallow deposits of windslab will be present on South-East to South-West aspects above 900 meters. Overnight and during the day snow will be redistributed to form unstable windslab on North-West through East to South-East aspects above 950 meters. Steep wind sheltered terrain will be most affected especially the tops of gullies and coire rims. Elsewhere the snowpack will be firm and stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: During the night Southerly winds will increase in strength to Gale force, then veer to the West during daylight hours. Dry overnight followed by snow showers during the day. The freezing level will rise to 700 meters in the early morning and then fall to approximately 500 meters by the end of the forecast period.
Observed Weather Influences: Strong winds from the North. The Freezing Level was around 950 meters. Light snow above 900 metres, this was heavier during the afternoon.
ObservedSnowStability: Stability was generally good. A widespread friable rain crust has developed above 900 metres. Snowpack weaknesses are present above 1000 metres mainly on South-East to South-West aspects. The avalanche hazard is Low.
