Forecast Snow Stability: The remaining snow will be well bonded and stable throughout. Firmer slopes expected at first, with surface layers softening later as the morning warms up. Cloud cover developing with less severe thaw conditions expected on South facing slopes than recently experienced. Greatest areas of snow will be found on the highest plateau areas and in North to East facing corries above 900 metres. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Snowpack Structure
Forecast Weather Influences: High pressure will remain in place for the next forecast period with another cold, clear night expected. Dry, sunny conditions at first on Monday morning with cloud building around midday. Light Northerly winds initially, backing West-North-Westerly during the afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: After a cold, clear night with a frost in the glen, it was a dry, warm and sunny day with light to moderate generally North-Westerly winds. ObservedSnowStability: The remaining snow is well bonded and stable throughout. Surface layers remained firm in sun shaded locations at higher elevations were softening rapidly on South facing slopes. Cover is breaking at all altitudes but remains greatest on the high plateau areas of the main Cairngorm mountains and in North to East facing corries above 900 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
