The avalanche danger is Low at the mid and upper elevations today. Isolated pockets of shallow wind slab in the highest elevations may be encountered. The low elevations lack sufficient snow cover for a danger rating. Early season hazards such as buried rocks and vegetation are prevalent at all elevations and could result in injury.

Light snow showers will continue this evening, with the bulk of the precipitation tapering off by the early morning hours. Accumulation looks to be in the 2-4” range with the possibility for higher amounts due to the showery nature of this pattern. Isolated showers will continue during the day tomorrow with an additional trace to 1” in most locations. A cold front will usher in cooler temperatures, with overnight lows at 10,000’ in the high teens and dipping into the single digits by the end of the day tomorrow. Winds will be out of the west at 20 mph overnight and slow to the teens by the daylight hours tomorrow.This next round of precipitation will not stack up enough to change the overall avalanche danger. The downward trend of both wind speeds and temperatures during the day tomorrow will also help to minimize any potential new stress on the snowpack. The avalanche danger is expected to remain Low tomorrow.
