Avalanche: Twin Lakes Pass

Touchy conditions in the backcountry today in avalanche country. Low visibility, moderate winds, and snowfall made for conservative decision making. Touring towards patsy marley from twin lakes pass I moved towards the ridge to look east. My partner and I had experience some cracking and collapsing earlier in the tour so we were not surprised when the slope released for a SS-Ar-U-R1-D2 on what was likely a density change. E facing slopes has received significant wind loading with cornice formation over the passed 2 days. The crown appeared to be 30-40cm deep running over rocky terrain with several covex rollers. Give wind loaded slopes and cornices plenty of space right now as they are touchy. I would recommend staying off of slopes >30 degrees right now on W-N-E aspects where old snow was present before the most recent storm. S aspects have enough snow to get down but are still very boney and rocks/trees are barely covered. Early season conditions still exist and now we have a couple of different slabs forming in our snowpack.
