We went up to investigate the current snowpack structure, looking specifically for the October facets and October rain crust (crust/facet combo). Due to the thin cover in this area, we could only find facets above 9,000 feet on the N/NE aspects - some were moist. See our snow profile for details. - <p>October facet/crust combo, also facets and depth hoar below. The facets on top of the rain crust appear to be rounding.</p> <p>Storm slab was a secondary concern when we set out in the morning, but we did not observe much slab development. This will change with additional loading and wind, increasing the danger.</p>
