On a group snowmobile ride we rode up and over Mt lola, staying out of avalanche terrain along the way. We observed up to 14" of thick new snow throughout the region with softer snow in the trees. Signs of instability included some isolated cracking and isolated whumpfing. Some naturally triggered avalanches were observed however they looked like they occurred during the storm. We dug North and North East facing snow pits at 8700ft in different wind affected areas. We had repeatable sudden results in the compression test at the new/old snow interface about 13" down. There was no propagation in ECT's, however one pit had PST 45/100 End @ 92cm up from the ground on buried surface hoar.
