The fingers and GoS

Traveled up GOST and toured up the fingers. Significant wind crust here which began collapsing about halfway up, before reaching the actual gullies. Several large holes and undermined snow still is a problem here. Very windslabby and I skied out after experiencing both collapsing and cracking in the snowpack. I then toured into main gully to see if conditions had changed. Found firm, chalky, and very edgeable windboard in the center line. Looker's right variation was very light density wind loaded snow that was several feet deep. This began cracking as soon as I stepped into it from the center portion of the gully while boot packing. I then immediately resumed boot packing up the center line which continued to be supportive, chalky windboard. I skied this down towards the bottom before moving skiers right to avoid the ice flow. I made a few turns in this variation near the bottom which was a combination of light density wind loaded snow and windslab that was pretty touchy. The ice bulge has definitely lengthened downhill since the weekend but other than some firm debris in the runout of main and some pockets of pine needle directly under the confluence of the three prominent lines I saw no recent signs of major avalanche activity. The center line skied quite well.

Quick report
