Whitecap East Zone

Travelled from Black Mountain of Maine to the East Zone of Whitecap. The SW aspect of the summit of Black Mountain had small (under two foot) cracking while skinning up.. The snow on those trails was nearly wind bare in places on Merrymeeting, and I heard similar reports on Bear Claw At ~2000ft on Whitecap at NE aspect, hand sheer test showed a stubborn slab with a non-planar fracture. Slightly higher I (as well as other travelers) found woompfing and cracks. While skinning back up for a second lap, snow had only slightly drifted into previous tracks. Wind was blowing aggressively from the NW, transporting lots of snow and created a ~3 foot wind drift at the top of Waterfall’s SE aspect. Snow on the NE aspect rode securely. I saw no evidence of avalanches with my naked eye of the SE aspect trails while descending or ascending Black Mountain of Maine.
