During a tour on east face of Ross peak, we found up to 4" of new snow with minimal wind affect. We did not see any signs of instability during the tour aside from our snow pit. We dug a pit on the east face of the peak where the slope steepens at about 8.400 feet to asses pushing upward into avalanche terrain. Total snow depth was about 36". The lower facet layer was only a few inches deep and did not produce test results. Pit results were ECTP11 at about 8" below the crust that the 12/25 storm fell on. We were surprised to get propagation, but used the unstable result to alter our plans and stay out of avalanche terrain entirely.
