Afternoon tour up the Middle Sink Valley. Temps were warm in the sun with ski bases sticking and occasianl "fly paper" conditions. Lots of westerly wind over the last few days with sastrugi in all the right places.

We found soft snow on a more sheltered North aspect. Digging down, Hs was 155cm on a N aspect at 8,200'.

Layer of greatest concern was some buried near surface facets about 35 cm down. These failed on a CT24 SC, but did not propagate in large column tests (ECTX). Basal depth hoar was rounding and 4F+ in hardness. The rest of the snow was either 1F or Pencil and quite strong. No cracking or collapsing.
