We headed to Lucille to check on the rain/snowline from the weekend’s storm. At around 1500 m there was a dusting of dry snow over a breakable crust, once we hit 2000 m there was 10 cm over this crust. This recent snow had been redistributed into deeper deposits below ridges and steep roll-overs leaving some windward slopes scoured. We saw evidence of some wind slabs that likely released over the past 12 to 48 hours. At treeline the snowpack depth was just over 1 meter and generally right side up. The riding was pretty decent at treeline but we didn’t venture far into the alpine due to poor visibility and wind transport of snow occurring at ridge tops.
