Quick report

Cracking
isolated

Generally stable conditions. 2/8 is beginning to show signs of cracking in non-wind loaded terrain where 2/8 facets are super weak, cracks traveled roughly 10-15'. Didn't directly observe wind slabs. Felt good skiing up to 40*. Observed a couple D1 loose dry avalanches on very steep N-NE facing terrain. Cracking on middle elevation N with 4-6" of new snow sitting on super weak near surface facets (2/8).

Snowpack

New snow has settled to about 4-6" over 2/8. Where 2/8 is at it's weakest, F- hard facets, the 6" slab is beginning to have cracks travel 10'-15'. We only experienced this where the thin slab is resting on a stack of near surface facets. Generally found on due norths at middle elevations. However, not every due north middle has this set up. Was able to trigger a very small slab once the slab was undercut by ski tracks (10'x10') Surfaces: Most surfaces that face away from the sun have some sort of facets. Surface hoar, near surface facets, even saw some radiation recrystallization on east facing terrain on ~31*. Wind slabs: Although we didn't directly observe wind slabs, this was our main concern today. There was evidence of wind affected snow surfaces on the NW bowl on Bromaghin and other "alpine" features near by.
