Prospectors Mountain

Lower snow totals than expected from this morning’s "storm". A generous 2 inches had fallen by noon at 9,500' on Prospectors. This wasn't enough to create any real storm instabilities, however, gusty winds out of the south were actively transporting snow along exposed ridgelines. We were able to get a "micro-wind slab" to run a few feet when we stomped on a wind loaded ridge at 9,500'. I would imagine that it would be possible to find shallow (6" or less) pockets of wind slab in loaded terrain above 10,500'. No loose sluffing observed in steep terrain. 

Temperatures at the low elevations had warmed considerably by the afternoon. Snow surfaces were soft and wet making the egress slow. No wet loose activity observed though. 

We did not observe any real signs of instability given the low storm totals. We observed a few old wet loose avalanches (D1) on the SE side of Albright.
