We found isolated pockets of wind-affected snow in several locations throughout the traverse with soft slabs up to 6 inches thick in places, but these were not very cohesive—a 1’x1’ hand shear broke into a few pieces. Depth ranged from 20-100cm. In those deeper pockets we saw up to 20cm of significantly weaker facets at the bottom of the snowpack, fist- hardness under a denser layer about 4f+. This was all around 9700’ on mostly north facing terrain.
