We went to the eastern edge of the advisory area to check the snowpack..
- At the trailhead, the 6 to 8 inches of recent snow barely covered the green bear grass.
- True to the east sides reputation, the wind blew light to moderate throughout the day
- Wind scoured and wind drifts were the predominant snow formation.
- At 5400 feet, wind had formed 1-finger hard slabs that ranged from 55 to 80 cm in depth. These slabs were reactive in multiple tests. They all failed while cutting the back of an ECT with a snow saw.
As we traveled through wind-drifted snow, we had isolated cracking around our skis.

Light to moderate winds throughout the day kept air temperature below freezing.

- Near the base of the snowpack, we found several inches of facets resting on a 2 inch ice crust.
