Quick report
Firm conditions abound above 8500' where either the wind or sun has done its work. Although wind affected surfaces dominate the alpine, we observed no evidence of recent wind slab activity.
Steep southerly slopes were softening by 11:30 am above 9000', but the surfaces never softened beyond the upper 10cm and wet loose avalanches seemed unlikely to trigger even later in the afternoon. Unconsolidated wet snow was found below 8500' in the afternoon on solar aspects, but again the ability to trigger a dangerous wet loose avalanche seemed unlikely.
