Quick report

Snowpack was lower coverage in boulder fields, but incredibly solid throughout the trip thanks to past avalanches and cool temps. I used crampons BTL to the summit because my snowshoes wouldn’t have gotten enough purchase on the icier terrain. My prime concern was mitigating uncontrolled slides and getting sucked into terrain traps. The top layer had a stout rain crust but was poorly bonded to the layer below it: it was shallow hard slabs over buried surface hoar on knife hard terrain.
