poked around goat ridge terrain today. We left from the crow creek parking lot and had a healthy alder swack down low that eventually gave way to 4-5" new snow on top of an old crust. We experienced a lot of localized cracking and collapsing on this crust layer and one large whoomph. We did not do any formal tests but dug a lot of hand pits and found a small layer of facets beneath the crust. At around 2600 the crust gave way to pockets of very firm wind board and powder. We experienced another large whoomph in this terrain. We observed one new avalanche that looked to have broken in the steep rocky ridge terrain and run into the bowl below. We observed 3 older slab/ glide avalanches that had been filled in with the new snow.
