Quick report

We joined the Lake Tahoe Snowmobilers at Hope Valley for their meetup including a short transceiver practice, then rode to the Charity Valley side of The Nipple for snowpack assessment on low elevation slopes sheltered from winds. Although it was shallow at 3-4ft, it was supportable. I found the Dec 12th facets about halfway between the ground and the surface, and still got unstable ECT results on this layer, with hard taps. The rest of the snowpack in this area was relatively strong. The top 3" was moist from previous rain and warm temperatures, but still provided enjoyable riding.

Windy morning but we didn't see much snow transport until new snowfall began at 11am. New snowfall and winds did not result in significant wind loading by our mid-day departure.
