Quick report

Went for a quick splitboard wander trying to stay out of avalanche terrain and clear of overhead concerns. we dug a pit on a west facing slope and immediately saw the valentines layer about a shovel blade down. It was still standing up holding the top 25 cm of snow without collapsing or cracking. test results in the picture. We stuck to the plan, skied some mellow terrain and left. The surface lowers out of the wind skied like a thin corn but once out of the protection of the trees, the light wind kept the surface frozen and skied like a breakable crust that was occasionaly supportable.
