Quick report

Skied up the Gulf of Slides ski trail into the Sandbox. Dug a pit on roughly 20 degree slope to assess snowpack. Roughly 15cm of 1F snow on top of 10cm of 4F snow, then 5cm of hard crust with weaker 4F snow underneath. Performed ECT and observed an ECTN15 @ 15cm and ECTN22 @ 35cm where snow was resting on the hard crust. After finishing the ECT the crack propagated roughly 3/4 of the way across the column but did not release. Decided to stay in lower angle terrain within the Sandbox based on concerns with triggering a small avalanche within the top 15cm or wind slab that could build and step down to the 35cm layer. Skied out via Gulf of Slides Ski Trail and great fun was had by all. Observed consistent new snowfall of ~0.5 in/hr. Temps stayed steady between 20 and 16 degF. Winds were moderate coming from W-SW.
