We visited Noisy Basin to check out the recent snow and northeasterly winds:
- We found 0-10" of dry snow on top of the recent melt-freeze crust
- The new crust was 6" thick and supportable.
- Winds in this location were from the East and gusted from light to moderate
- We saw active wind loading onto slopes facing N, NW and W
- We intentionally triggered small soft slabs up to 10" thick on NE, N and NW
- We noticed several small natural loose dry sluffs on steep, rocky slopes
- Our pit at 6200' NE aspect revealed a generally strong and moist snowpack
We skied a NW slope finding a couple pockets of wind-stiffened snow during our descent.

Snowfall tapered in the morning. Easterly winds gusted to moderate. Sunshine broke through the clouds briefly in the afternoon. Temperature/sun at low elevation was enough to melt new snow.

Pit @ 6200' NE aspect: HS=170cm, 55cm down to 2/3 crust. Thin crust down 30cm. Top 15 cm dry and refreezibg crust. Moist below. ECTX.

Intentionally triggered 3 small soft slab avalanches in wind affected terrain. Noticed one small natural soft slab. Saw a handful of recent loose dry in steep rocky terrain. Lots of recent cornice fall.
