Quick report
I skied up to Devils thumb and dug a pit at about 4000ft. Depth about 80cm where I dug, surface wind slab was 20cm thick, finger to knife hard, sitting on a very thin layer of facets and broken stellars, on top of a base of finger hard snow.. At road elevation there were a couple pretty noticeable crusts from the warmups, but I couldn't find that where I dug. Inversion with temps below zero at road and much higher on ridges.
Avalanche
Numerous D1 to D2.5? avalanches, all at least a couple days old, on all aspects up Trims creek, on Miller point across river, and on slopes above McCallum creek. Seem to all be from previous wind event, breaking in the top of snowpack, a few cornice triggered and some mid-slope.
