Lots of whoomphing, some cracking, several old D1 slides from yesterday. Two new slides of significant size. Seems best to dial it back and enjoy the refresh on lower angle terrain for time being. On our way up the traditional skinner for windy ridge, we felt/heard several large whoomphs. Snow is upside down as the storm finished with much denser snow falling last night into today. Due to this much denser snow, cracking was limited to specific areas but instabilities were very clear. As we approached our transition spot, we triggered a large whoomph that propagated to the slope adjacent to us where two separate Storm Slab pockets released and ran. No one was caught. Very touchy right now and the snowpack needs time to adjust to this added load.

Triggered slide remotely from the skinner on a much lower angle adjacent slope. Whoomph was felt and it propagated to trigger a slide (~12" deep, 100 ft wide) that ran down the terrain trap below. The weight of this snow entering the drainage then triggered another much larger release on the NE aspect on the side of Windy Ridge. This slide was roughly D2 in size and produced a much wider crown than we anticipated likely due to the cohesive layer of dense snow that has formed the most recent storm slab problem. We skied out near our skinner on lower angle terrain.
