Rode up on likely overnight natural avalanche. North facing wind loaded cornice approximately 8500 feet. The entire ridge broke and we have never seen that in this spot. Crown had to be about 4 feet average and about 1000 feet long, large chunks, ran a pretty good distance. Informal tests on similar slopes with a snowmobile did not result in a failure.
