Angora Peak

We headed out to Angora Peak today to try to catch a little bit of cold snow before the incoming rain. With warm overnight temperatures and overcast skies  the heat and humidity definitely got trapped in causing for moist surface snow early on in the day. On the climb up, the trees were already dripping at 0945. As we climbed higher, the snow was moist on all aspects all the way up to the summit at 8500 feet.  When we got to the summit approximately 1100, we could feel the first raindrops starting to fall on top of us.  At this point the surface snow was wet enough to create pinwheels for a short period of time before they would break apart. The ride down from the top was primarily wet and sticky all the way back to the parking lot.  Besides some pinwheel formation we did not observe any other signs of moving snow. 

Pinwheels and roller balls would start to form then break up as they traveled downhill.
