The new snow felt upside down today with the warming trend. It didn't take much digging to realize the new snow was reactive. Test slopes frequently failed, especially in wind-drifted areas, and cracking was common. Most column tests would fail during isolation and would break 50 cm deep on a layer of lower-density snow from 3/10. Patrol also reported numerous soft slabs that failed 12 inches deep within the new storm snow. Poor visibility and stormy conditions limited observation above 6600'.

The day started calmer than anticipated. The wind started feeling strong by late morning, and large amounts of new snow drifted into upper Heather, limiting visibility.

NE @ 6600': 55 cm of storm snow rests over the stout 3/8 crust. Most ECTs/CTs failed on isolation at the new/old snow interface on a layer of low-density snow from 3/10.
