While standing on the skin track ascending near the top of Low East in Mineral Fork I observed a skier descend along the next ridge to the south, the one that separates Mid East from Low East on the Wasatch Backcountry Ski Map. When the skier was about 5 turns down the ridge. I watched the snow fracture about 50 feet to the north of the skier, and a fairly large avalanche broke to the facets at the ground. The slide ran through trees and on down into the gully for a total of about 400 vertical feet. The skier continued on down the ridge and neither he or his partner still standing on the top were aware of the avalanche. This is a repeater and the attached photos look nearly identical to the photos in the report from 'K' made Jan 10, 2025. The various ridges in the Low East, Mid East, and Highline got skied today, but you would be in a world of hurt if you were caught in an avalanche like the one I saw today, and I would expect similar aspects/elevation in the lee of each of the ridges in this area are prime to avalanche. Pretty much of a minefield out there right now.
