Weather

A cold start, then a rapid rise to above-freezing temps, calm with a few moments of light breeze above treeline that knocked some snow out of trees, and sunny all day.

Snowpack

The snow was 120-130cm high on a sheltered meadow near the treeline. At midday, it was still dry in this location. The persistent slab structure was stubborn but would propagate suddenly, halfway down, during heavy loading steps. The weakest snow sat just below the thin slab, then got progressively stronger near the ground.
