Points saillants

The wind will be moderate to strong over a wide area. As a consequence of falling temperatures the snowpack will consolidate during the next few days.

Avalanche Activity

The wind will be moderate to strong over a wide area. As a consequence of falling temperatures the snowpack will consolidate during the next few days.

Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found on very steep shady slopes. Individual slab avalanches are possible, but they can reach medium size. Avalanches can be released in the weakly bonded old snow on steep slopes. This applies in particular in case of a large load. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface.

Snowpack Structure

The surface of the snowpack will freeze to form a strong crust and will hardly soften at all. Faceted weak layers exist in the old snowpack in particular on steep north facing slopes.

Tendency

The avalanche danger will persist.
