Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Light rain will dry up overnight leaving a generally dry period. The freezing level will fall from 1400m to around 700m during Friday. Winds will veer to the North. Observed Weather Influences: It was dry at first but a band of rain and sleet moved into the area later in the afternoon. The freezing level, initially at 700m rose during the day to around 1200m. Strengthening South-Westerly winds ObservedSnowStability: The existing thin covering of wet snow has gradually thawed during the day resulting in a wet snowpack at all but the highest elevations.
