Avalanche Summary

You can trigger a dangerous avalanche on west to north through southeast-facing slopes that breaks on a layer of weak snow buried near the ground. You can trigger them from a distance or from below a slope so be aware of steep terrain overhead. The most dangerous areas are where the snow is shallow around rock outcrops, by trees, or towards the bottom of a wind-loaded slope. You can find safer travel options on sunny south and southwest-facing slopes or on smooth, uniform slopes where the weak layer is buried deeper than about three feet.
