Avalanche Summary

You can trigger an avalanche on west through north to south-facing slopes at all elevations. You may still find signs of instability like cracking or collapsing within the new snow, and if you trigger a small slide near the surface it can break into deeply buried weak layers near the ground. Deep and large avalanches can also be triggered from shallow areas of a slope like near exposed rocks and bushes. Look for and avoid recently drifted snow on leeward features as well as shallower areas near steep slopes. Choose the terrain you ride carefully. Avoid travel on slopes greater than about 30 degrees and pay close attention to steep terrain overhead.
