Avalanche Summary

Most slopes are free from dangerous avalanches. However, we do have two developing Loose avalanche problems.

As the snowpack continues to weaken, it will become easier to trigger loose avalanches at low elevations on steep, shady, sheltered slopes. In addition, temperatures continue to warm (highs Thursday are expected to be 20 degrees above normal) under sunny skies and calm winds. This warming trend could produce loose avalanche activity on steep, rocky, sunny slopes in the afternoon. Avoid these problems by avoiding steep shady slopes with cohesionless snow and slopes that hold wet, sloppy snow in the afternoon.
